This little 10 inch Lady was a real project she has a fabulous corset made from a khaki colored silk , it is comprised of six panels all individually boned, and  the boning is decorated with antique gold thread which not only works to hold the boning in place but is also decorative the individual panels are then edged with edging of the same silk and the entire corset is lined with the same silk. this corset followed an actual 18th century pattern.  her petticoat is a quilted silk and she has an additional cotton petticoat under that. The corset was a lot of work . Her open robe dress made form a lovely antique silk that depending on the way the light hits it compliments the petticoat color as well as the corset color. as you can see in the picture she has a custom made William and Mary period chair the chair is included with the doll.   She can either be displayed on her stand next to the chair or actually sitting in her chair . After all why have a doll the can sit if she has nothing to sit on. This is quite a package.  If you have any question please call me or email me you can click on the CONTACT tab at the top of the page. Hello, well the response was so overwhelming on the first primitive I made that I made another for your consideration. She is also 13.5 inches tall.  ,  Her dress  is made very crudely (on purpose of course) as if made by child  just learning to sew. The corset attaches with the smallest buttons in the world made by my own two hands measuring only an 8th of an inch across.  her dress is like a homespun cotton her under garments are also cotton. Her bonnet is an imported batiste fabric with antique lace. she is charming right down to her shoes. She has been aged to look  her 200 + years.  She bends at the hips and knees.  A lovely Chippendale chair or maybe the country chair would be perfect for her .

This doll was taken from several examples of primitive so called bed post dolls.  Made by family members or a local craftsman, they have a wonderful naive charm that is irresistible . So I had to make some. this doll is wearing a corset and slip and a lovely lavender  batiste Empire style dress her bonnet is a cream batiste. She is the picture of spring with her small basket .  If she were the real thing she would date from around 1800 or so.  So simple but so much detail these dolls are a contradiction to the words simple or naive and, primitive, as their construction is not easily duplicated . This doll is perfectly aged to have the appearance of a 200+ year old doll and would be a great addition to any collection. Thanks for looking !  Don’t forget a chair as she does bend at the hips and knees.

12 inch black English wooden style doll Cecilia.  She has a lovely face.  Her dress is antique silk with a faded a muted floral so indicative of the Rococo period, a modest dress none the less very simple. This doll has enameled eyes and her torso is authentically made.  She has had carved hands and legs, the legs bend at the hips and knees as the original English wooden doll did.  So do look at my furniture and perhaps there is a chair you must have to go with her.

For price and any other information you would like to have regarding Cecilia please call me or email me.

Lady Merriweather

Happy new year!  This is the third of my 2011 dolls. She is wearing a beautiful dress made from  antique dark royal blue and chartreuse woven silk.  Her petticoat is made from some lovely antique embroidered tulle from France in a very light shade of chartreuse. The tulle has the same flower motif as the silk fabric of the dress. Under her petticoat is a slip made from cotton in the chartreuse color. I made all the trim from the same fabric as the dress, the gold bow around her neck is made from antique gold metallic thread that I crocheted in a single chain . the trim around her cuffs is also made from this thread and  crocheted in a double chain. I think this doll has a great presence her body shape is wonderful from all sides.

I hope you enjoyed viewing her. For more information please feel free to call me or email me. Go to the contact tab on the home page .
